Installing Plank Flooring

     One of my most satisfying  projects was ripping up the old  carpeting in our upstairs office  and replacing it with clean,  easy-care plank flooring (right).

     Another rewarding project was designing and  building the redwood garden "bridge" (below).  
 It was a good solution to an inherent problem in
 our condo's patio yard:       
      The HOA would not allow changes to the slope  of the yard, so during heavy rains, water collected  in the center.  I installed a sump pump to  discharge excess water, but the pump was  unsightly and needed to be camouflaged.  The  garden bridge solved the problem.

     I designed and built the bridge in modules for two reasons:
     1) To make it easier to move into place and assemble.  
     2) To allow an alternate use for the modules: The bridge
          can convert to a patio table, four stools, and eight
          flower boxes (see below).
